Monday July 27, 1942

The words that follow (in italics) are transcribed verbatim from the journal my father, Lt. Ben H. Rushing, kept during his deployment as a navigator on a B17.

July 27, 1942

The sirens went again this morning. I didn’t bother to get up. Don’t pay much attention to them.

We were scheduled to fly but the weather was too bad. I had a slight headache & was glad we didn’t. We flew over Stratford on Avon yesterday. A very beautiful place.
